Sheeting & Slitting

During the process of custom seal and gasket fabrication (ie. custom rubber seals), A.J. Rubber & Sponge Ltd. incorporates several value-added services including sheeting and slitting, which involves large rolls of sheet material that are cut using extremely sharp rotary blades on flatbed presses. During custom gasket or seal material sheeting and slitting, straight lines are cut lengthwise into a large roll of sheet material that runs through the circular blades (knives) of a roll slitter, so as to create strips of material that are narrower in width. Roll slitter knives can be adjusted to make sheet strips of various widths for custom gasket and seal fabrication, including custom rubber seals. Roll slitter knives are designed specifically for each required job. The main determinants of the roll slitter knives configuration include the type of material to be slit, the specific tolerances that must be held while slitting, and the thickness of the work piece material.
